Biogas typically refers to a gas produced by the biological breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. It is a much more efficient way of capturing all of the gas. It has been determined that biogas has virtually no trace of toxic emissions in comparison with fossil fuels.
During the process, an air-tight tank transforms biomass waste into methane producing renewable energy. Biogas can be used as a low-cost fuel in any country for any heating purpose, such as cooking. It can also be used in anaerobic digesters where it is typically used in a gas engine to convert the energy in the gas into electricity and heat. Biogas can be compressed, much like natural gas, and used to power motor vehicles. Biogas can also be cleaned and upgraded to natural gas standards when it becomes biomethane.
It is better to use food waste for the biogas productioin at home. Animal waste is difficult to deal with and the smell is very unpleasant. Food waste is much easier to handle with.
