Coaxial cabling is the primary type of cabling used in the cable television industry, and is often used for computer networks such as Ethernet. It is more expensive than standard telephone wire, because of the amount of data it can carry and how it handles interference better. Coaxial cable is a type of wire that consists of a center wire surrounded by insulating material and then based shield braided wire. Coaxial cable is the cable type used to carry radio signals, video signals, measurement signals and data signals. The design reduces the electrical and radio frequency interference.
Coaxial cables are mainly made of outer and inner conductor that shares a common axis. Inner conductor is typically a straight wire, either solid or stranded and the outer conductor is typically a shield that could be braided or foil. Digital Coaxial cables are there, because we can not run open-wire line near metallic objects (such as channels), or bury it. We trade signal loss for the convenience and flexibility. Coaxial cable consists of an isolated center conductor which is covered with a shield. Signals are carried between the cable center conductor and shield. This arrangement gives quite good protection from noise from outside the cable, and holds the signal within the cable and keeps cable characteristics stable.
